First, she tried to look down and make out what she was coming to, but it was too dark to see anything; then she looked at the sides of the well, and noticed that they were filled with cupboards and book-shelves; here and there she saw maps and pictures hung upon pegs…
Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end? “I wonder how many miles I’ve fallen by this time?” she said aloud. “I must be getting somewhere near the centre of the earth…
~ Lewis Carroll, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” 1865)

This was created as part of “Alice In Wonderland: A Space Opera,” an art exhibition in April 2024. It was held at Monster, an awesome shop in Ballard, Washington, and the location that has carried my art since 2007, longer than any other. “Alice In Wonderland: A Space Opera” was an exploration of Alice’s adventures across time and space through art. It started as a random idea: What if Alice’s adventures occurred far in the future while exploring the universe on her own. I started sketching ideas down and quickly invited a few friends, (Mike Capp, Michael Gardner, Travis Torgerson and my son, Calvin Hillgrove), to join in on my little adventure.
