Sketch-A-Day #144 is a tribute to my favorite cartoon series of all time: “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. Amazing story and characters – if you haven’t watched the series, then you’re missing out. Anyways here’s an ink and marker sketch of Appa, Momo and Aang… “Yip yip Appa!”

Last weekend was Rose City Comicon (Portland, OR) and for me the highlight was talking to Tom Cook. (Tom has been animating/directing since 1978 and worked on many of the cartoons that I remember as a kid, like Challenge of the SuperFriends, He-Man and the Master of the Universe, Thundarr the Barbarian, Blackstar, Scooby Doo, Bravestarr, Flash Gordon, Ghostbusters and tons of others). We chatted just a bit and he drew me a sketch for me 🙂
When I got back to my booth I felt like doodling some Thundarr the Barbarian myself, so here’s sketch-a-day #143…
Here’s a timelapse video of me creating a painting in acrylics from start to finish with commentary. “Refreshed” 16″ x 20″ Acrylics on stretched canvas.
